When you punch in Direct-To on the navigator, your distance off course is displayed as a uniform deflection of the CDI. However, the GPS receiver inside your navigator just calculates your position and how far that position is from a desired course. Ground-based navigation (ILS, LOC, VOR) inherently provides angular deviation. The distance off course for a given indication decreases as you get closer to the source. The angular course deviation indication displays degrees off course. Remember that first ILS when you were 100 feet above DA and you sneezed? That momentary lack of attention caused the needles to peg faster than your instructor could utter, “Gesundheit.” But if that same sneeze occurred outside the marker, the needles remained centered. The difference between linear and angular deviation affects the accuracy of approaches and how we fly them. Since they’re not designed approaches, there are no LNAV+V minimums we use simple LNAV minimums.Īll GPS approaches with a glidepath, including the LNAV+V, require WAAS.Ĭourse guidance requires explanation. Its advisory glidepath is a mathematical construct, not a surveyed part of the approach design. The table below tells us if the approach is a NonPrecision Approach (NPA) or precision (including APV). That term is “APproach with Vertical guidance'” Think of an APV as a precision approach from a practical standpoint. This practical definition is partly accepted in the instrument Practical Test Standards-an LPV satisfies the requirement for a precision approach, just like an ILS.Ĭlearly, another term is needed here. OK?Ī more practical definition of “precision approach” is one with designed, surveyed vertical guidance to a decision altitude. So, officially a “precision” approach has nothing to do with its precision. To further muddy the waters, certain GPS LPV approaches can achieve a higher precision than an ILS. “Precision approach” is defined by ICAO in terms of the components of an ILS. Officially, only an ILS is a precision approach. The official definition of a precision approach is different than the practical one. That seemed like a fine idea and it also affords us the opportunity to share some additional information. ![]() ![]() A reader suggested a follow-on article with a table that gathers all the approach types and their key characteristics in one place. In July 2013, we published “GPS Alphabet Soup” covering the five types of GPS approaches in some depth. Conclusion : In our opinion, August was another successful month in Nemerum 's life, the improvements can be seen day by day and as we said countless times already, we will keep going ! We appreciate all the efforts of our Community for sharing us your opinions and suggestions, all these feedbacks are really important for us. Meanwhile our translators are working on the new languages, we will also improve our other translations a lot which are already available. Once they will be done Spanish, Italian, Polish and Hungarian languages will be released. Extending the language offers of our client are also very important for us, our translators are working really hard day by day to finish them. We are also working on some event additions such as Black Jack Event, Stage Event + Unique events. The development of the Guild Raids &World Bosses are also progressing very well, however since both systems will be very complex, they do need a bit more time until the release. We plan to release that system together with our Mission Book rework which will also be very useful and worthy to do. ![]() We are currently working on a new Rarity Stone system which will spice up the normal gameplay with lots of extra rewards. ![]() Our team will continue to push forward in September, we have a lot of plans, some of which will be completed in the foreseeable future. There were multiple things work in progress such as the expansion of wikipedia, the new language translations of the client, guild raids, world bosses, meanwhile we always kept monitoring all the economical needs of our community. We were also able to release our second Beginner event for the end of the month, which was once again a big success. In the month of August we were able to finish many of our planned development, such as offline shop improvements, achievement /title system rework, event calendar readjustments and a lot more little Quality of Life improvements. Dear Nemerum Community, We are presenting you our monthly news for September.
